200 Hour Meditation Teacher Training in Rishikesh India

As per the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the meditation is simply about focusing your mind to reach a spiritual state. But it is not just an activity as it is also a way of being.

To get into that peaceful state, you have to deal with your busy minds and strong feelings. At Sri Yoga Ashram, you will practice techniques to go beyond your thinking brain and connect with a deeper sense of awareness.

200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Certification Course

Our 200 hour Meditation Training course is designed to be inclusive and does not belong to any specific religion. It honors the idea that all religions lead to a sense of unity and oneness cannot be separated. It draws upon the wisdom of ancient texts and teachings of various masters which highlight their messages rather than their identities. This means that regardless of your religious background, meditation can enhance your path without requiring you to abandon your beliefs. The focus is on releasing limitations rather than losing your individuality.

This meditation course is designed as a personal journey into self-discovery, a place where silence helps you hear yourself and the world around you and where individual practice is enriched by connections with others. It is a space for exploration of the mind and a path towards self-awareness. In addition to developing yourself you learn important lessons and skills to assist others in growing their personal journeys. This training in addition to you own personal training will assist you as a teacher in developing your skills and tools to help others grow and have a meaningful impact on people’s lives.

We all know that it is hard to quiet our minds even when we close our eyes and try to meditate. If you really understand how your minds work, it can make the process so much easier and more effective. Let us think about why we get bothered in certain situations like:

  • Struggling to think clearly or focus.
  • Your feelings take over and you can't control them.
  • You worry a lot about what might happen in the future.
  • It is hard to get over painful things that happened in the past.
  • You feel isolated and sad when you are alone.
  • Your minds are always busy and will not quiet down.
Basically, you are always trying to get rid of negative feelings and that is understandable. But what if, instead of fighting the ups and downs, you could become so stable that they do not bother you? Life is always changing and you suffer because you might either stuck on past hurts or worried about the future. Instead of trying to control everything around you, you can learn to handle whatever comes your way with grace. You cannot control the world but you can control how you react to it.

Wise people have been teaching for years how to find inner peace and handle problems. Everyone has different struggles but the tools you work with are the same like your minds, emotions, energy and bodies. So, let us focus on understanding and improving those first.

  • Are you curious about meditation and want to find what works best for you?

What Makes Our 200 Hour Meditation Teacher Training Courseand Yoga Nidra Teacher Training Unique?

Finding a place to explore deep meditation requires a safe and supportive environment. It is better to learn from experienced teachers who have personally walked the path of self-discovery. The teachers at Sri Yoga Ashram have lived regular lives, faced challenges and bravely explored different meditation styles with many masters. They have been touched by enlightened teachers and found their own spiritual path.

These teachers understand the profound personal transformation that happens when someone connects with their inner self. They know that this process is deeply emotional and needs to be approached with kindness and understanding because human pain is real.

The academy encourages each student to be authentic and find the meditation techniques that work best for them. They also teach 15 different methods to help students become effective teachers. This is because as a teacher, you will meet many unique individuals.

Having a variety of techniques allows you to tailor your teaching to each student which empower them to choose what truly resonates with them. The focus is on individual growth and discovery which is guided by experienced and compassionate teachers.

Our 200 Hour Meditation and Yoga Nidra teacher trainings in India are designed to help you understand yourself completely. We look at all aspects of the human experience right from your breathing to your thoughts, emotions and physical body. We explore your inner awareness and mindfulness using both spiritual teachings and scientific understanding. We believe that science and spirituality belong together with science being how we discover the spiritual realm.

We know our students come from many backgrounds and have their own perspectives. That is why we offer personalized support and encourage you to share your true feelings throughout the training. We want you to feel comfortable expressing your emotions because we understand that dealing with challenges might require some support. This journey is a holistic one thus we also respect your need for quiet reflection if necessary.

When starting meditation, time is important. Beginners need to learn how long they can focus their minds and manage strong emotions. We guide you through this process gently which allow you to explore your inner landscape at your own pace. We believe in an approach that honors your individual growth and experience.

This meditation course is designed to help you become more aware of yourself through a journey of self discovery. It recognizes that everyone learns at their own pace and it is okay to be a beginner. Some people might have never actively meditated but still have a naturally meditative nature. Therefore, this course welcomes both beginners and those with some experience which gradually lead everyone from basic concepts to more intensive practices.

A core idea of the course is to understand the relationship between sound and silence. Like a canvas is to art, silence is the base for sound. Even when your mind is busy chattering, this underlying silence still exists. The practice of silence, or "Maun," goes beyond just being quiet. It is about being present and observing your thoughts without judgment. This is crucial because as the masters point out, you cannot truly understand your mind, let alone transcend it, without first observing it consciously.

The course integrates a two-day silent meditation period where you can observe your mind. This provides you with a rare opportunity to turn all your attention to yourself, free from external distractions. This time is meant to allow you to connect with your core self which build a strong foundation for your spiritual journey. It emphasizes that you need yourself most on this path and silence is the state where you can truly reunite with your being.

Beyond the solitary practice, the course also values community and interactions. By relating with others, you usually understand yourself better. These exchanges deepen your connection not just with individuals but with humanity as a whole. Each time you learn from another person, it prompts introspection which is fertile ground for inner wisdom.

This approach creates a well rounded experience that benefits your individual journey while connecting you to a collective one. The course structure in its 200 hour format in Rishikesh allows participants to dedicate time to self inquiry while also participating in community gatherings.

In addition to practice, the course delves into the history of meditation, explores scientific research on its effects and shows how traditional and modern methods have come together over time. The people leading the course express gratitude to their teachers which recognize that the meditation techniques they share come from masters who have firsthand experience with their true selves and whose wisdom is now supported by science.

Through these techniques, you can experience many wonderful insights. The meditation process supports each person's unique reasons and objectives. Whether you are seeking personal spiritual development, looking to inspire others, aiming for self healing or venturing into the unknown, meditation can be helpful.

Unit 1: Types & Benefits of Meditation Asanas

In this unit, you'll explore various asanas that are specifically beneficial for meditation. These postures are designed to help you sit comfortably for long periods, align the body, and encourage deep breathing.

  • Types of Meditation Asanas:
    • Sukhasana (Easy Pose): A simple, cross-legged position that promotes relaxation and focus.
    • Padmasana (Lotus Pose): A more advanced seated posture that helps create stability and support for deep meditation.
    • Vajrasana (Thunderbolt Pose): A kneeling position often used for its grounding effects.
    • Ardha Padmasana (Half Lotus Pose): A less intense alternative to Padmasana, providing similar benefits but with less strain.
  • Benefits:
    • Physical Benefits: Increased flexibility, better posture, and improved circulation, especially to the legs and pelvis.
    • Mental Benefits: Helps promote a calm and focused mind, reduces restlessness, and fosters a sense of inner peace.
    • Spiritual Benefits: Supports deep meditation by creating a stable base that allows you to stay grounded and centered.

Unit 2: Choosing Your Meditation Asanas

This unit emphasizes how to choose the right asana for your body type, meditation goals, and comfort level.

  • Factors to consider:
    • Body flexibility and comfort: Some asanas, like Padmasana, require more flexibility, so it’s important to listen to your body and adjust accordingly.
    • Purpose of meditation: Whether you’re aiming for mindfulness, deep concentration, or healing, certain asanas may suit your meditation intention better.
    • Physical limitations: If you have any injuries or discomfort, certain postures might be too intense, and alternatives like sitting on a cushion or using a chair might be more suitable.
  • Tips for choosing:
    • Start with simpler, more accessible postures (like Sukhasana) and gradually progress to more complex ones (like Padmasana) as your body adjusts.
    • Ensure that the posture allows you to keep your spine straight and your breath relaxed.

Unit 3: Asana-Siddhi

“Asana-Siddhi” translates to the mastery or perfection of asana. This unit would likely focus on the deeper practice and spiritual benefits of achieving proficiency in meditation asanas.

  • The Process of Achieving Asana-Siddhi:
    • Consistency: Regular practice is key. Over time, your body and mind will learn to hold the posture without strain.
    • Mindfulness and focus: As you master the posture, the goal is not only to maintain physical stability but also to focus the mind, letting go of distractions.
    • Energetic Alignment: The idea is that with consistent practice, you align the body, breath, and mind, making meditation deeper and more powerful.
  • Benefits of Asana-Siddhi:
    • Greater Stillness in Meditation: As you master the physical postures, your body becomes more relaxed, allowing for a deeper mental state.
    • Increased Awareness and Concentration: Mastery of asanas allows you to channel your energy more effectively, supporting prolonged focus.
    • Spiritual Growth: Achieving Asana-Siddhi is often seen as a sign of spiritual growth, as it demonstrates discipline and harmony between body, mind, and spirit..

Unit 1: What Are Chakras and Chakra Meditation?

    What are Chakras?
  • Chakras are energy centers in the body, each associated with different aspects of physical, emotional, and spiritual health. The word “chakra” comes from the Sanskrit term meaning “wheel” or “disk,” symbolizing the flow of energy in the body.
  • There are seven main chakras, which run along the spine from the base to the crown of the head.
    1. Muladhara (Root Chakra) – Stability, grounding, survival.
    2. Svadhisthana (Sacral Chakra) – Creativity, sexuality, emotions.
    3. Manipura (Solar Plexus Chakra) – Personal power, self-esteem, willpower.
    4. Anahata (Heart Chakra) – Love, compassion, connection
    5. Vishuddha (Throat Chakra) – Communication, expression, truth.
    6. Ajna (Third Eye Chakra) – Intuition, perception, insight.
    7. Sahasrara (Crown Chakra) – Spirituality, enlightenment, connection to the divine.
    Chakra Meditation:
  • Chakra meditation is a practice where you focus on each of the chakras, either individually or sequentially, to clear blockages and ensure a free flow of energy. The goal is to align and balance the chakras, which can promote emotional and physical healing.
  • Techniques may include visualizations, mantras (specific sounds or words), breathwork (pranayama), and physical postures (asanas) that correspond to each chakra.

Unit 2: How Do Blockages Affect You?

    Chakra Blockages:
  • Blockages in the chakras can occur when energy flow is disrupted, often due to negative emotions, trauma, stress, or unbalanced lifestyle choices. When energy becomes stagnant or blocked in a particular chakra, it can manifest as physical or emotional issues.
  • Signs of Blockages:
    • Root Chakra (Muladhara): Feelings of insecurity, financial instability, and survival concerns; physical problems in the legs, lower back, and immune system.
    • Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana): Emotional imbalance, issues with creativity or sexuality, low libido, or problems with the reproductive system.
    • Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura): Low self-esteem, lack of confidence, digestive issues, and problems with personal power.
    • Heart Chakra (Anahata): Difficulty with love, compassion, and relationships; chest pain, asthma, or heart-related issues.
    • Throat Chakra (Vishuddha): Communication difficulties, feeling unheard, throat problems, or neck pain.
    • Third Eye Chakra (Ajna): Lack of intuition, difficulty focusing, mental fog, or headaches.
    • Crown Chakra (Sahasrara): Disconnection from spirituality, lack of purpose, or chronic discontent.
    Impact of Blockages:
  • Blocked chakras can affect not only your physical health but also your emotional and mental well-being. For example, a blockage in the heart chakra could lead to an inability to trust or form close relationships, while a blockage in the throat chakra might result in trouble expressing oneself clearly.
  • Chakra meditation helps to clear these blockages by bringing awareness to the areas where energy is stuck, allowing the practitioner to release and heal.

Unit 3: Over/Under-Activeness of Chakras & Balancing

    Over-Activeness vs. Under-Activeness:
  • Over-active Chakras: When a chakra is overly active, it means that the energy in that area is excessive, which can lead to imbalance. For instance, an overactive solar plexus chakra (Manipura) may result in arrogance, control issues, or even digestive problems. An overactive throat chakra (Vishuddha) may lead to talking excessively or being overly dominant in communication.
  • Under-active Chakras: On the other hand, an underactive chakra indicates a lack of energy in that area, which can lead to lethargy, emotional instability, and a lack of fulfillment. For example, an underactive heart chakra (Anahata) might result in feelings of isolation or inability to form deep emotional connections, while an underactive root chakra (Muladhara) might cause feelings of insecurity or fear.
    Balancing Chakras:
  • The goal is to create a balance in the energy system where each chakra is functioning optimally. Chakra meditation plays a significant role in this process, as practitioners can work to open up underactive chakras or calm overactive ones.
  • Techniques for Balancing: Visualization, Affirmations:, Physical Postures, Breathing Exercises
