- Pranayama - traditional breathing techniques and breath awareness
- Meditation - concentration and the ability to observe the mind
- Yoga Nidra - systematic relaxation with conscious awareness, on the pathways that include it
- Yoga philosophy - the principles and ideas behind yogic practice
- Anatomy - a practical understanding of the body and how it moves
- Yogic cleansing practices - traditional techniques suited to your course
- Teaching methodology - giving clear instructions, structuring a session and guiding students
The emphasis shifts with the pathway you choose. The aim stays the same: to understand not only what to practise, but also why and how.
Why Sri Yoga Ashram?

- Small groups - generally around 10 to 12 students, so teachers can observe your practice and guide you personally
- Experienced teachers - specialists for asana, pranayama, meditation, philosophy and anatomy
- Residential learning - study, practice, meals and rest in one place, close to the Ganga
- Ayurveda and wellness - Ayurveda treatments and an Ayurveda therapist pathway at the same ashram
Whether you want to become a yoga teacher, deepen your own practice or study yoga alongside another traditional Indian discipline, there is a pathway for you. You do not need to be advanced or especially flexible to begin.

The six pathways at a glance
| Pathway | What you gain | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Ashtanga Yoga | A structured asana practice, alignment, sequencing and the skills to teach dynamic classes | The most physically demanding pathway. Often difficult after the age of 40. |
| Kundalini Yoga | Experience of breathwork, mantra, meditation and Kundalini-oriented practices | Suitable for all age groups. Physical intensity depends on the class. |
| Yin Yoga + Yoga Nidra | Long-held postures, relaxation and guided yogic rest, for teaching slower-paced classes | Physically less demanding, with mostly passive postures. |
| Meditation + Yoga Nidra | Meditation methods, concentration and contemplative practice, for guiding meditation and relaxation | Physically less demanding. Especially suited to students aged 30 and over. |
| Yoga + Vedic Astrology | An integrated study of yoga and traditional Vedic astrology | For students who want more than yoga alone. |
| Yoga + Ayurveda Therapist Training | Yoga education plus practical experience of selected Ayurvedic therapies | A strong option for therapists and healers. |
A note on the two integrated courses. Yoga + Vedic Astrology and Yoga + Ayurveda Therapist Training each have their own curriculum and certificate, set out on their pages. The Ayurveda course in particular is built differently from the standard teacher training (100 hours of yoga and 100 hours of Ayurveda), so please do not assume it carries the same RYT 200 eligibility. Ask us to confirm the certificate and registration status before you enrol.

Why Sri Yoga Ashram
Stands Out for Yoga Teacher Training
- We keep batches small, generally around 10 to 12 students, so teachers can observe your practice, answer your questions and guide you individually. You join a learning community, not a large classroom.
- Sri Yoga Ashram is committed to sharing yogic values and philosophy through training courses in Ashtanga yoga and Kundalini yoga style.
- Our scientifically developed course structure is always appreciated by hundreds of students who learn with our wise teachers.
- Sri Yoga Ashram takes great care of every student.
- Our yoga teacher training course instructors use a wide range of techniques that are time-tested and appreciated by all.
- We provide accommodation in a clean and green environment.
- The ashram is in the Laxman Jhula area, close to the Ganga, local markets and restaurants, with greenery around it and a stream beside the premises. From the rooftop you can look out over the river, the town and the surrounding mountains.
- Sri Yoga Ashram is one of the highest rated Yoga School in Rishikesh. Our google reviews are proof for the same.
200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Activities
A residential training lets you live yoga beyond the scheduled classes. A typical day brings morning practice, pranayama, theory classes, teaching practice, time for self-study and an evening session, and the exact timetable depends on the pathway you choose.
Around the classes you share meals with fellow students, exchange ideas across cultures, join the Sunday trips and practise in nature beside the Ganga. That mix of study, practice and daily life is what makes a month in Rishikesh more than a classroom qualification.
The certificate you receive
Every graduate of the 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training receives this certificate from Sri Yoga Ashram on the last day of the course.
- Issued by Sri Yoga Ashram, a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School.
- Carries your name, your enrollment number and the completion date.
- Signed by the course director, Dr Gaurav Agrawal.
- If you want to register with Yoga Alliance as an RYT 200, you apply to them directly after the course: our guide explains how registration works.

Who the 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training is for
You want to teach
This is the qualifying course. Graduates register with Yoga Alliance as an RYT 200.

You want one immersive month rather than weekend study

You want to deepen your own practice
You do not have to teach afterwards. Some students come for a month of practice, philosophy and reflection.
You are exploring a new direction
A career change or a pause from routine. A residential month gives you the space to decide what comes next.
