Group Yoga & Ayurveda Retreats in Rishikesh, India

Sri Yoga Ashram in Laxman Jhula, Rishikesh hosts private group yoga and Ayurveda retreats for yoga teachers, studios, retreat leaders and private groups, with residential accommodation, vegetarian meals, Ayurveda treatments and the River Ganga within walking distance.

Bring Your Group to Rishikesh — Where the Ganga, Himalayas, Yoga and Ayurveda Come Together

Imagine beginning the morning with yoga in the foothills of the Himalayas.

A few minutes away, the sacred River Ganga flows through Rishikesh. Green hills and forest surround you. Birds replace city traffic in the early morning, and after practice your group sits together for a simple vegetarian breakfast before beginning another day of yoga, meditation, Ayurveda and exploration.

Sri Yoga Ashram invites yoga teachers, yoga studios, retreat leaders, wellness professionals and private groups from around the world to organize their own Yoga and Ayurveda retreats in Rishikesh, India.

Located in the Laxman Jhula area of Rishikesh, Sri Yoga Ashram offers something increasingly difficult to find: a peaceful residential environment surrounded by nature while remaining close to the Ganga and the spiritual life of Rishikesh.

We can help you create:

  • Private Group Yoga Retreats
  • Yoga & Ayurveda Retreats
  • Ayurveda Wellness Retreats
  • Meditation Retreats
  • Women’s Wellness Retreats
  • Yoga Studio Retreats
  • Spiritual Retreats
  • Teacher-Led Retreats
  • Small Group Wellness Holidays
  • Customized 7, 10, 14 and 21-day retreats

You can bring your own teaching program or ask our yoga and Ayurveda team to become part of it.

You bring your group and your vision.

We help you create the Rishikesh experience around it.

Why Organize a Group Retreat at Sri Yoga Ashram?

There are many places where you can rent rooms and conduct yoga classes.

Rishikesh offers something different.

Known internationally as one of the world’s great centres of yoga and meditation, Rishikesh sits where the Himalayan foothills meet the River Ganga.

A retreat here is not limited to what happens inside the yoga hall.

Your participants wake up surrounded by mountains.

They walk to the Ganga.

They experience the forests and hills around Rishikesh.

They meditate in places associated with generations of yogis and spiritual seekers.

They experience Indian food, culture, Ayurveda and traditional yoga as part of everyday life.

For an international yoga group, the destination itself becomes part of the retreat.

Sri Yoga Ashram is ideally positioned to help groups experience this side of Rishikesh.

A Peaceful Location in Laxman Jhula, Rishikesh

Close to the Ganga. Surrounded by Hills and Greenery.

Sri Yoga Ashram is situated near the Post Office in the Laxman Jhula area of Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India.

The location is one of the main reasons we believe the ashram works particularly well for retreats.

The River Ganga is within walking distance, while forests, hills and the Himalayan landscape surround this part of Rishikesh.

Guests therefore do not have to choose between nature and convenience.

You can stay in a peaceful environment and still walk out to experience the ghats, river, cafes, temples, yoga community and everyday life of Rishikesh.

For a retreat group, this is particularly valuable.

Participants do not feel isolated inside a resort for two weeks, but neither do they have to stay in the middle of a noisy commercial neighbourhood.

They have space for practice and reflection, while the real Rishikesh remains just outside the door.

The Ganga Is Part of the Retreat Experience

The River Ganga is not simply a sightseeing attraction in Rishikesh.

For many people who come here for yoga, it becomes one of the most memorable parts of their stay.

The river offers a natural place to slow down.

Between yoga sessions, participants can walk towards the Ganga, sit quietly beside the water, meditate, visit the ghats or simply spend an hour away from phones, schedules and everyday responsibilities.

Group walks and selected meditation sessions near the river can also become part of your retreat program.

For an international student who has travelled thousands of kilometres to practise yoga in India, these simple moments often become as meaningful as the formal classes.

Yoga in Rishikesh is not confined to the yoga mat.

The mountains, river, forest, temples, people and atmosphere all become part of the experience.

Nature Around You

Sri Yoga Ashram is located in an area where green Himalayan hills, forest, the Ganga and a natural mountain environment remain close to everyday life.

This natural setting is particularly helpful for retreat groups because participants are intentionally stepping away from their normal routine.

Morning yoga feels different when the day begins among Himalayan hills.

Pranayama feels different in fresh air.

Meditation becomes easier when the surroundings themselves encourage stillness.

And during free time, guests can walk rather than feeling that they must constantly be entertained.

The purpose of a retreat is not simply to fill every hour with activities.

Sometimes the greatest value comes from giving participants the space to slow down.

Not a Luxury Resort — A Comfortable Yoga Ashram

We believe it is important to be clear about what Sri Yoga Ashram offers.

Sri Yoga Ashram is not a five-star hotel or luxury wellness resort.

And we do not try to be one.

It is a residential yoga ashram created for people who have come to Rishikesh primarily for yoga, Ayurveda, meditation, learning, wellness and a meaningful experience of India.

Accommodation is clean, decent, comfortable and practical.

Rooms are designed to provide what a retreat participant genuinely needs for a comfortable stay rather than unnecessary luxury.

Depending on your group package and availability, private and twin-sharing accommodation can be arranged.

Rooms generally provide:

  • Private attached bathroom
  • Western-style toilet
  • Running hot and cold water
  • Comfortable bed and bedding
  • Basic furniture
  • Table and chair
  • Wi-Fi
  • Housekeeping
  • Access to purified RO drinking water

Some rooms and areas of the ashram also offer views towards the surrounding greenery, hills and Rishikesh landscape.

If your group expects marble bathrooms, room service, televisions and luxury hotel facilities, Sri Yoga Ashram may not be the right choice.

If your participants appreciate clean accommodation, a peaceful environment, good food, nature and an authentic residential yoga atmosphere, they are much more likely to feel at home here.

For many retreat leaders, this balance is exactly what they are looking for.

Designed Especially for Small and Medium-Sized Groups

Sri Yoga Ashram has traditionally preferred smaller groups because yoga is easier to teach when teachers and students actually know each other.

Groups of approximately 10–12 participants are particularly well suited to the ashram environment.

This size allows:

  • Better personal attention
  • Greater interaction between teacher and students
  • Easier organization of Ayurveda therapies
  • More meaningful group discussions
  • Stronger connections between participants
  • Easier excursions and local activities
  • A more intimate retreat atmosphere

Larger private groups may also contact us and we can advise according to accommodation and date availability.

Host Your Own Yoga Retreat in India

One of the most important features of our group retreat program is flexibility.

You do not have to give up your teaching identity simply because you are bringing your students to an established yoga ashram.

Your group remains your group.

If you are a yoga teacher or retreat leader, you can conduct your own:

  • Morning yoga
  • Evening yoga
  • Workshops
  • Meditation
  • Breathwork
  • Philosophy sessions
  • Women’s circles
  • Group discussions
  • Teacher training modules
  • Coaching sessions
  • Special retreat activities

You can also ask Sri Yoga Ashram teachers to conduct selected classes where required.

For example, your students may practise with you in the morning while our teachers introduce them to traditional pranayama, meditation, Kundalini Yoga, Hatha Yoga or yoga philosophy at other times.

The retreat can therefore combine your teaching with the experience of traditional yoga in Rishikesh.

Yoga Styles and Practices Available

Depending upon the program selected for your group, Sri Yoga Ashram can help incorporate practices such as:

Hatha Yoga

Traditional asana practice emphasizing stability, awareness, breath and proper technique.

Ashtanga Yoga

A stronger and more dynamic practice suitable for groups interested in developing physical discipline and structured sequences.

Kundalini Yoga

Practices incorporating asana, pranayama, meditation and traditional techniques aimed at exploring the energetic dimension of yoga.

Pranayama

Traditional breathing techniques that form an important part of the yogic system.

Meditation

Guided and traditional meditation practices suitable for different levels of experience.

Yoga Nidra

A deeply relaxing guided yogic practice that can complement active retreat schedules.

Mantra & Chanting

Selected mantra and traditional chanting sessions can be incorporated into your program.

Yoga Philosophy

Groups interested in understanding yoga beyond physical postures can include discussions on yogic philosophy and lifestyle.

Combine Yoga With Authentic Ayurveda

Yoga and Ayurveda developed from the same broader Indian tradition of holistic living.

For this reason, they work beautifully together in a retreat.

A participant may begin the morning with yoga and pranayama, enjoy nutritious vegetarian food, receive an Ayurveda treatment later in the day and finish with meditation or a gentle evening practice.

Instead of making the retreat unnecessarily busy, Ayurveda can help create periods of relaxation and personal care within the program.

Depending upon the duration and purpose of your retreat, participants may receive a customized selection of traditional Ayurveda therapies.

Ayurveda Treatments for Group Retreats

Treatments can be selected according to your retreat package and individual suitability.

They may include:

Abhyanga

A traditional full-body Ayurvedic oil massage using warm herbal oils. It is one of Ayurveda’s best-known rejuvenating practices and can be particularly pleasant during an active yoga retreat.

Shirodhara

A gentle stream of warm oil is poured continuously over the forehead, creating a deeply calming and meditative experience.

Marma Massage

Traditional Ayurvedic bodywork focusing on important Marma or vital points of the body.

Patra Pinda Sweda

A warm herbal poultice treatment in which specially prepared herbal bundles are applied rhythmically to the body.

Udwarthanam

A traditional herbal powder massage involving stimulating movements over the body.

Swedana

Ayurvedic herbal steam treatment often used alongside oil therapies.

Kati Basti

Warm medicated oil is retained over the lower-back area using a specially prepared dough boundary.

Nasya

Traditional Ayurvedic nasal therapy, provided where suitable as part of an individually planned program.

Head, Back and Foot Therapies

Shorter localized therapies can also be incorporated into wellness packages.

Ayurveda programs can be adjusted according to the length of the retreat and the needs of the group.

Choose the Kind of Retreat You Want to Create

Group Yoga Retreat

Best for yoga teachers and studios wanting yoga to remain the central theme.

The retreat may include:

  • Daily yoga
  • Pranayama
  • Meditation
  • Three vegetarian meals
  • Accommodation
  • Yoga hall
  • Selected workshops
  • Free time
  • Local excursions

The visiting retreat leader may conduct all or most yoga sessions.

Group Yoga & Ayurveda Retreat

This is an excellent choice for organizers who want to offer something more comprehensive than an ordinary yoga retreat.

Participants enjoy yoga and meditation together with selected Ayurveda treatments.

A typical program can include:

  • Daily yoga
  • Pranayama
  • Meditation
  • Accommodation
  • Three vegetarian meals
  • Ayurveda consultation
  • Ayurveda therapies
  • Workshops
  • Excursions
  • Time near the Ganga
  • Free personal time

For a 14-night Yoga & Ayurveda Retreat, for example, approximately eight Ayurveda treatment sessions per participant can be incorporated comfortably into the program.

The exact number can be customized.

Group Ayurveda Wellness Retreat

Yoga does not necessarily have to dominate the retreat.

Some groups prefer a slower program built around Ayurveda, gentle movement and rest.

This can be particularly suitable for:

  • Wellness groups
  • Ayurveda enthusiasts
  • Meditation groups
  • Older participants
  • Holistic wellness professionals
  • Women’s groups
  • Stress-management retreats
  • Groups wanting relaxation rather than intensive yoga

A program can include gentle yoga, meditation, Ayurvedic consultation, traditional treatments, vegetarian food, nature and ample free time.

Retreat Durations — From One Week to Three Weeks or More

We do not require every group to follow the same duration.

7-Day Retreat

Suitable for groups wanting a short introduction to Rishikesh, yoga and Ayurveda.

10-Day Retreat

Offers additional time for treatments, workshops and excursions without requiring a full two-week commitment.

14-Night Retreat

One of the most practical options for international groups.

Two weeks provides sufficient time for participants to settle into the rhythm of the retreat rather than feeling that they have to leave just as they begin to relax.

It also allows yoga, meditation, approximately eight Ayurveda treatments and selected excursions to be combined without overcrowding the daily schedule.

21-Day Retreat

Ideal for groups seeking a deeper yoga, Ayurveda or personal-development experience.

A three-week program allows more spacious scheduling and greater integration between practice, treatments, nature, excursions and rest.

Longer Retreats

Longer private programs can also be discussed.

A Sample Day at Sri Yoga Ashram

Every organizer can design a different schedule, but a Yoga & Ayurveda retreat might follow a rhythm such as:

06:30

Wake up / Herbal tea

07:00 – 08:30

Morning Yoga

08:30 – 09:00

Pranayama & Meditation

09:00 – 10:00

Breakfast

10:30 – 12:30

Ayurveda Treatments / Workshop / Free Time

13:00

Lunch

14:00 – 16:00

Rest / Ayurveda Treatments / Personal Time

16:30 – 17:45

Yoga / Workshop / Philosophy

18:00 – 19:00

Meditation / Yoga Nidra / Mantra / Group Session

19:15

Dinner

Evening

Free Time / Group Sharing / Rest

This is only an example.

Some retreat leaders prefer fewer classes and more free time.

Others bring students specifically for intensive yoga practice.

We can build either type of retreat.

Simple, Fresh Vegetarian Food

Residential retreat packages generally include three vegetarian meals each day.

Meals follow the simple food culture of a yoga ashram rather than the style of an international luxury hotel.

Breakfast may include dishes such as fruits, sprouts, porridge, poha, upma and sandwiches.

Lunch and dinner typically include Indian vegetarian dishes such as:

  • Chapati
  • Rice
  • Dal
  • Chickpeas
  • Seasonal vegetables
  • Salad
  • Yoghurt
  • Other freshly prepared dishes

Food is prepared using RO-purified water.

Our approach is simple:

Fresh food, vegetarian food and enough variety to support an active yoga retreat.

Organizers should discuss significant dietary requirements with us before confirming the group so that we can advise what can reasonably be accommodated.

Explore Rishikesh Together

A group retreat becomes much more memorable when participants experience the region beyond the classroom.

Selected excursions can therefore be incorporated into your itinerary.

Kunjapuri Temple & Himalayan Sunrise

Kunjapuri is situated high in the hills above Rishikesh.

An early-morning visit provides the opportunity to see sunrise over the Himalayan landscape and experience a very different side of the region.

For many groups, the combination of mountain views, silence and early-morning meditation becomes one of the highlights of the retreat.

Vashishtha Cave

Vashishtha Gufa is a traditional meditation cave near the Ganga outside central Rishikesh.

The cave is associated with the ancient sage Vashishtha and remains a peaceful destination for meditation and contemplation.

A visit combines beautifully with time beside the river.

The Ganga & Rishikesh

Your group will also have opportunities to explore the ghats, riverbanks, local markets, temples, cafes and unique spiritual atmosphere of Rishikesh.

Why Retreat Leaders Choose a Residential Ashram Instead of a Hotel

A hotel can provide bedrooms.

A retreat requires an environment.

When your participants live, eat and practise yoga within the same residential setting, the group gradually develops its own rhythm.

People meet at breakfast.

They practise together.

They discuss what they are learning.

They receive treatments.

They rest.

They walk to the river.

They return for the evening session.

This continuity can make a retreat feel very different from a holiday where participants simply meet for yoga twice a day and spend the rest of their time scattered around a hotel.

Sri Yoga Ashram is intended to support this residential retreat experience.

One Location for Yoga, Ayurveda, Food and Accommodation

Organizing a retreat in another country can become complicated very quickly.

A retreat leader may otherwise need to coordinate:

  • A hotel
  • Yoga studio
  • Catering
  • Yoga teachers
  • Ayurveda centre
  • Therapists
  • Excursions
  • Transportation
  • Local support

At Sri Yoga Ashram, many of these elements can be coordinated as part of one residential retreat.

This is particularly useful for international teachers who want to bring their students to India without becoming full-time travel organizers themselves.

Suitable for Yoga Teachers and Studios From Around the World

Group retreats are especially suitable for:

  • Independent yoga teachers
  • Yoga studio owners
  • Yoga schools
  • Meditation teachers
  • Ayurveda practitioners
  • Holistic therapists
  • Wellness coaches
  • Pilates teachers
  • Breathwork facilitators
  • Spiritual teachers
  • Women’s retreat organizers
  • Universities
  • Wellness travel companies
  • Yoga travel organizers
  • Private groups of friends

You do not need to operate a large retreat company.

If you can bring a suitable group together, speak with us about what you would like to create.

Keep Your Own Retreat Identity

If you have built your own yoga community or studio, your students are coming primarily because they trust you.

We respect that.

You can organize the retreat under your own name or studio brand and teach your own program.

Sri Yoga Ashram can provide the residential setting and agreed local services in Rishikesh.

Where required, our teachers and Ayurveda team can complement your program.

This creates a practical partnership:

Your community.

Your teaching.

Your retreat philosophy.

Our Rishikesh location, accommodation, yoga facilities, Ayurveda and local support.

Special Group Packages for 10+ Participants

Every private group is different, so we do not publish one fixed group price.

A seven-day yoga retreat requiring twin-sharing accommodation and use of the yoga hall is very different from a 21-day program including private rooms, teachers, Ayurveda treatments, transportation and excursions.

For this reason, Sri Yoga Ashram prepares a customized group quotation.

Pricing is based on factors such as:

  • Number of participants
  • Retreat duration
  • Private or twin-sharing rooms

  • Yoga teachers required
  • Excursions
  • Transportation

  • Special activities
  • Additional services
